Phillip Chbeeb Pops My World

America's fascination with dancing continues to perplex me. (Equally perplexing: why I continue to watch these stupid shows.) I found most of last night's episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" dreadfully dull; I just think most of the earnest and talented dancers are incredibly boring, no matter how good they are.

But then a guy like Phillip Chbeeb comes along and does something I've never seen before. The tiny video size doesn't really do it justice, but look out for the wavy arms, and the floating head bit.

WOW that was really something....I've never watched the show but maybe they should have another show called "So you think you can pop.." since that's what most of them seem to do...but none like this guy though.

That's pretty awesome.

I don't watch the talent shows (best parts are always on YouTube) but I have been sucked into a marathon of the most horrible UK export: Bump n Grind

It's kind of appealing - they really can dance those kids.

Interesting because I'm actually really surprised this show has done very well at all; America seems way more interested in the people lacking talent (i.e. the weeks and weeks of American Idol rejects - the sole reason I simply can't get into that show) and in the day-to-day drama of making total strangers live together. The lack of those two elements (lack of lack of talent equals talent...I guess) and a personal fascination with people moving their bodies to music is, I guess, why I like the show so much.

And, I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I kinda get a kick out of the judges. I like how Nigel's trying not to be mean lasted about ten seconds. Mary Murphy used to get on my nerves but she's grown on me. And, sorry, but Shane Sparks is the shit.
