i could just kind of tell by the dishevelled beard, as we had never seen the good doctor in such a state in previous flashbacks....so i took this for perhaps a post-island flash-forward. is this what we're talking about?
yes, that is what we're talking about. I had my hunches when he stood on that bridge, just because I couldn't think of what would have driven him over the edge that we hadn't already seen before. Surely there wasn't something ELSE in his past...
