Musty TV's Maniacal Halloween Countdown - Day 15

Those Korean beauty masks sure are creepy

Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Silence of the Lambs are all loosely based on Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein, as was a 1974 slasher flick starring Roberts Blosson as a deranged farmer who lives with his religious fanatic mother.

Deranged came out in 1974, seven months before the very similar Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and when I say similar, I mean if you look at some stills from Deranged, you'd swear they were actually from Texas Chainsaw. But I guess when you're basing your movie on a killer who kept the mummified corpse of his mother as a companion, wore "skin suits," and used skulls as bowls, there's going to be similarities.

The movie is airing at noon on Comet, and it's also available to rent on Amazon, and viewable with foreign subtitles on YouTube.
