I stumbled upon this site today. It's an online library of antique children's books, and some of the illustrations and stories are amazing. And weird. And just plain wrong. I recommend a perusal.
One favorite is The Cats' Party, pictured to the right. Remind me never to accept an invitation to a kitty soiree.
