America Is Crafty

I don't know much about it, but PBS is airing a twothree-part doc tonight called "Craft In America," and the title makes it sound like it would be right up my alley, what with my craftiness and all. And by "crafty" I mean all my attempts to create something cool and homemade that really just ends up being nothing but a huge mess, with me crying over my hot glue gun burns.

It airs tonight from 8-10pm 9-11pm.

She's Crafty

Boing Boing posted about Craft magazine yesterday which is quite the coincidence since I subscribed to that very magazine the same day! How could I not? It's about crafting, and my friend Jessica's awesome knitted robots are featured on the cover of the first issue. Wow!

The Boing Boing article is about pre-ordering a copy of the first issue on Amazon, but why not just subscribe to the magazine directly? You know you want to.

Also featured on the Craft magazine site is an article writen by my friend Chrissa Banner! Cool!

So much craftiness. I wonder if people will look back at this time in history, when people were making cozies for their iPods, and knitting shoes, and think, "Wow. They sure wasted their time making weird and stupid stuff back then, didn't they?" I mean, don't we look at those Barbie doll toiler paper cozies of the '70s and think that very thing?

This photo set has been making its way around bloggerville for the past couple of weeks and I LOVE it. I immediately looked to see if a copy was available on eBay, but no. So then I looked for it at the library, and they have it! And a reserved copy is now waiting for me!

Of course I wish I could find a copy that I could keep, but in the meantime, I will be photocopying the hell out of it. And I just might try a few of the patterns out myself. You know, so I can get in touch with my masculine side.

Mansquito Wears Martha's Poncho!

I have received a tremendous (well, tremendous to me) number of hits in the past week from people searching for either "Mansquito" or "Martha's Poncho" and that just cracks me the hell up. If I had any talent, I'd photoshop an image of mansquito wearing the poncho, but people, I just don't. Sorry.
