Shaking Hands With Goofy, As It Were

I am off to Disneyland.

YES!

Hopefully I won't run into Tony Curtis while there, because he obviously would just want to make everyone leave as soon as possible.

Remember That Time I Went to Disneyland?

That was awesome.

I'm back. Wanna see some pictures and videos? Check 'em out on Flickr. Here's a taste!

"The Economy's In Shambles

...and your 401K is worth 15 bucks. What are you gonna do?"

"I'm going to Disneyland!"

Indeed I am! It's the entertaining equivalent to burying ones head in the sand!

Leaving in the morning, and hoping the traffic in LA will be light because, seriously, people down there can't possibly have any money for gas.

See? There's a bright side to all this!

Weeeeee!

The Year of a Million Screams

I'm back from Disneyland. (To see photos, click the picture above.) It was fabulously fun and a great way to spend my birthday. I screamed, ate prime rib, drank a glowing cocktail, and was wished a Happy Birthday about a hundred times thanks to the Disneyland Hotel-issued birthday pin I wore for two days straight. I also got an autographed photo of Goofy and a balloon upon check in to the hotel, which was awesome. For the most part we lucked out weather-wise, only getting hit with rain towards the end of Saturday night, and bit Sunday afternoon.

As for the flying, I suppose it was pretty good, considering the weather; I've experienced worse turbulence, although any amount is really too much for me. Virgin America was impressive on the way down, what with the in-flight entertainment (even if some of it didn't work, like the games) but on the way back, it wasn't working at all. On Sunday we got to the airport early enough that they were able to put us on an earlier flight that had been delayed. Turns out it wasn't done being delayed, and it ended up taking off about the same time as our original flight, so we ended up getting home just five minutes earlier than we would have if we had stuck with that original flight. Ha HA! But at least I got a free cocktail out of them because of the delay.

So now I'm home, and I think I will spend the entire day in my pajamas catching up on some TV and writing, before I have to get back into real life, and real life worries...

Mr. Toad's Wild Drive-By

'Tis funny, but that last shot of Disneyland? Is Disney WORLD. Gah!

Tower of Shame

Thanks to Chuck for sending along the above photo. Click on it for a bigger view.

Apparently I express complete terror as utter shame when on thrill rides.

Instant Nostalgia

I've got Disneyland pictures up on Flickr now. Check them out!

The trip was absolutely fab. Highlights include seeing an Elvis impersonator* on the Tomorrowland Terrace stage; riding Big Thunder Mountain during the fireworks show; the miraculous reappearance of the Velvet Misery; and eating a big ol' piece of prime rib followed by a souffle dessert. Ahhh. Good times.

* I've uploaded this Elvis video twice, and both times YouTube screwed up the audio/video sync. Can someone explain to me why this happens?

Life Is a Fairytale

Hey! Here's a video from my trip to Disneyland. It was taken on the Storybook Land ride.

If I could have anyone in the world narrating my life, I'd want this girl to do it.

Further Proof That France Doesn't Deserve a Disneyland

This video isn't nearly funny as The Sun's description of said video.

Par example: Then Mickey gets friendly with the snowman--and the gay action continues with Goofy having a steamy CLINCH with cartoon chipmunks Chip 'n' Dale. Finally, the horny hound CUPS Minnie's boobs. [Emphasis theirs.]

Why can't American papers write stuff like this?

I'm FIFTY!! And I LOVE it!!!

Even though Disneyland doesn't officially turn 50 until July, for some reason the big celebration started today. That Disneyland...so greedy! Anyway, I couldn't let this event go by without some comment. In reading the various news stories this afternoon, I came across the map pictured here. At first I thought it was really cool, but then I noticed a bunch of mistakes in their "facts." WHAT WOULD WALT THINK?

You can see a bigger version here.

Disneyland Snack Pack Shack

Disneyland was fab, as it always is, if a little too crowded on the last day. The weather had finally cleared, so the hoards came en masse. Luckily, we got early entry the first day, and were able to get into the park an hour before the majority, which meant we were able to get on six rides with no lines what-so-ever. It was awesome.

Here are a few photos.

Here we see Goofy fleeing from his adoring fans.

Pluto running from the dog-catcher. Might be rabies. It was actually kind of weird how many Disney characters I saw just running at full speed around the park.

Things were going great until we decided to get a Fantasy Funnelcake. It was actually more of a nightmare, as you can probably tell.

This is my favorite photo of the trip. It looks so unreal. And I love the blurred Monorail train on the right...

Deeedneeeelaaaand!

I'm signing off for a few days as I am going to DISNEYLAND! See that photo of my pal over there? That's where we'll be. All weekend. Running maniacally towards the Matterhorn.

Weeeeee!

The Red Sox Have Won the Pennant!

I'm going to Disneyland!

Seriously. I am. So I won't be posting for a few days. Try not to think about me eating churros and flirting with Goofy while you're slaving at your desks, OK? The weekend will come soon enough...Of course then there's Monday, another day I won't be toiling away. Unlike you. But don't think about that! I'll be back and miserable like the rest of you soon enough.

Great. Now I'm depressed.

Hey! I know a cure for that!
