More Reasons To Hate Family Guy

I hate "Family Guy," and despite insistence from friends who are fans that I should just give it one more try, I can't. I gave it a try, and that was enough. I'd still rather watch "The Simpsons." And apparently the creators of "Family Guy" feel similarly.

[Edited to add: The YouTube video has been removed, but you can watch it here.]

I also appreciate that Cartman feels the same way I do.

Well, in all fairness, the South Park guys' criticism of the show has more to do with "Family Guy"'s utter lameness than it does with its plagiarism. I wish I could find the clip from that same episode where Cartman goes on a tirade explaining exactly why the show sucks, because he explains it so much better than I ever could. But then again, doesn't he always?

For the record, this is what Cartman has to say:

Don't you ever, EVER compare me to Family Guy, you hear me Kyle? Compare me to Family Guy again and so help me, I will kill you where you stand! Do you have any idea what it's like? Everywhere I go: "Hey Cartman you must like Family Guy, right?" "Hey, your sense of humor reminds me of Family Guy, Cartman!" I am nothing like Family Guy! When I make jokes they are inherent to a story! Deep situational and emotional jokes based on what is relevant and has a point, not just one random interchangeable joke after another!

Family Guy sucks the big one because:
The jokes are bad
The characters are not developed well
They'll milk a joke forever (they've never heard of comedic timing)
The animation is plain lousy
The voices all sound the same
They take cheap shots to a new low

Robin quivers from the Howard Stern Show said it best years ago when referring to an animated show, i don't remember which one. She said something to the effect that she doesn't like the way the characters are drawn and can't understand anything they say (i think it may have been south park). So Family Guy just irritates the hell out of me. There is nothing about this show that doesn't make me physically tense. The main thing is the overall sound of the show. Family guy creeps it's way into my household on a daily basis, polluting the room with it's awful collective sound. Most of the time i don't even realize it's on until i start getting angry and then realize why. It's just so over the top, they try so hard to get a laugh. The over exaggerated voices, all the screaming & yelling. The dumbed down blue collar voices. It's like MAD TV in that it seems they think anything is funny as long as you use a silly voice and fall down often. Don't even get me started on the talking baby. The Style of animation truly sucks as well. The mens' chins, the womens' faces & noses, that freakin football headed baby, mostly the eyes, brutal! Actually i think that's it, the sound and the look of the show are enough reason for me to claim that Family Guy is the single worst show in the history of television broadcating. I will admit that from time to time they are capable of a funny joke, but jesus overall i find it to be absolutely amazing and entirely disheartening that this show has received such widespread critical acclaim. Family guy seems like a good show for people who walk around shirtless, the kind of people who hang movie posters on the wall with thumbtacks as art and think wrestling is real. To hell with it.

Seth ... your description of Family Guy far more accurately describes South Park.

Seth McFarlane saw The Simpsons and thought he could do it better by using the same jokes and story lines. Homer Simpsons is fat, stupid and obnoxious, Peter Griffin is fat, stupid and obnoxious. Marge is out of Homer's league, Lois is out of Peter's league. Homer and Marge have three kids, Peter and Lois have three kids, all nearly the same age as the Simpsons although the Griffins are slightly older, with the exception of Maggie and Stewie, who are both babies. We know there are definitely differences; Stewie talks all the time while Maggie has seldom ever made a sound. The Simpsons dog Santa's Little Helper is realistically a dog, but the Griffin's dog Brian is able to converse with a vocabularly that would rival most college professors. The Simpsons relies on jokes relating to the plot, relevant pop-culture, and references to earlier episodes for its humor, while Family Guy uses more absurdist gags to get laughs.

I hate the Family Guy. While occassionally it may be funny, they will never spare the weakest of society when they try to make a joke which leaves the writers looking gross and pathetic.

I actually used to like Family Guy. At one time the unusual jokes were actually funny. These days Seth McFarlane has been putting more & more of his political views into the show. More or less if you don't agree with his views on God, politics, abortion, homosexuality, and any number of other issues, you are wrong in his eyes. It's fine to have your own code of ethics, but forcefeeding it down everyone's gullets will only drive away the viewers. Another issue that adds to my dislike of the show is that the cutaways so many people hate have just gotten longer. Where is there a place in a comedy show for a 3 minute clip of Conway Twitty? (Seems like filler).

Seth McFarlane's ego has grown bigger than Stewie's head. He jumped the shark on the episode when Stewie finally killed Lois (or maybe it was before that). On Sunday nights nowadays I would rather watch American Dad (which is awful) or Simpsons (which has been awful the last 8 or 9 years). Better yet, let me go ahead & watch South Park, which is still actually good after 12 seasons!

Fuck family guy. south park is just so much more inteligent and funny (my favorite episode is "cartoon wars" where they make fun of family guy).

So let me get this straight... All of you who have posted comments here actually think that South Park and The Simpsons (Neither of which has any connection with reality) are better than Family Guy, which actually relates to modern life, and has a sense of humor.

Two things here:

1. South Park is stupid

2. The Simpsons is stupid

Both of those shows are nothing but mindless people doing mindless things and being stupid. South Park is nothing but a bunch of trouble-making kids who are obvoiusly uneducated and who have nothing better to do than act like bafoons, and The Simpsons is nothing but a city full of retards who can't do anything right.

At least Family Guy has a point to it, and is actually funny.

South Park is better family is a plagiarism of THE SIMPSONS

This show was funny the first two seasons because there were only a few random jokes at a time and they were quick, also in the first two seasons there was a story driven plot instead of just poop jokes and random " hey remember that time I was Bea Arthur's egg timer". If you like the show fine, but to seriously say that it's "intelligent" and makes a "point" is bullshit. But what do you or the rest of America care what I think you just want to be entertained you don't care if it makes sense. FYI Seth McFarlane is totally biased.

FAMILY GUY SUCKS HUGE FUCKING COCKS

I find it ironic that cartman hates family guy. Honesty, Cartman pretty much represents the creators of from south park, being two-faced -_- ... family guy does the same jokes from the simpsons and so does SOUTH PARK(they even made a episode that it's not anybody fault if the simpsons get ripped off because the simpsons already did EVERYTHING) and that both "flashback" excuse oh please... south park doesn't do flashbacks, but they tend to be so far random and stupid as well, sometimes not sticking to the story, how can the three shows NOT be alike when they're all copying of one another the dumb jokes.

Erik, have you ever seen South Park in recent years, do you know that the majority of their storylines these days (well since the turn of the century really) are based on current affairs? So to say South Park is stupid is complete nonsense.

This is just a small range of topics theyve covered in the last 3seasons:
The Tiger Woods Scandals
Facebook
The prohibitation of Fast-food restaurants in low income areas
"2012"
"Avatar"
The WWE
The ACORN 2009 undercover video controversy
The passing of Michael Jackson
The pirates in Somalia
The global recession
The Jonas Brothers and the connection between Purity Rings and its link to Disney "selling sex"
"Twilight"
"High School Musical"
The election of Barack Obama
The Olympic Games
Everyones reliance on the internet and how we'd all cope (which is not well) if the internet vanished in the morning.

Now this is just what I can remember of the past three seasons in current affairs and popular culture that they have covered recently in South Park, now there is obviously a lot more they have done in previous series. I mean theyve ranged form things such as the Muhammad drawings in Denmark to the smoking ban so to say that South Park doesnt bear any relation to real life is just stupid, and maybe you should watch some of the new episodes Erik, it may change your mind, and by the way none of the characters on South Park are thoughtless, maybe if you watched it from time to time you would realise that.

@Erik, your talking bullshit Family Guy is more stupid than south park. You tellin me Peter Griffin is clever? lol

I'll admit I like family guy it makes me laugh, but the humour is soo stupid and it's just repetitive. Also, it is a huge rip off of the simpsons. Peter's fat and stupid just like Homer. Stewie is a baby just like Maggie. Lisa is clever and sensible like meg. Bart is stupid like Chris and Lois is sensible like Marge

South Park is just better; it's current and the jokes don't drag on for a ridiculously long time. It's like in Family Guy they always do that chicken fight, oh my God, I got a good chuckle the first two seconds but then I just had to turn the channel. Same with the majority of their other jokes. Furthermore, I'd like everyone to embrace that Seth Macfarlane does not do a good German accent, seriously it's utterly nauseating. When they had him voice the gaseous gentlemen in the second Hellboy movie I wanted to cry because it was so cliche and irritating. Oh and there's a difference between funny and hateful and I think Family Guy often crosses the line and it's sad that the public buys into it. Lastly, can they chill on Hitler references? Hey wait, they can't because it gives that douche a chance to do his impression and everybody thinks it's such a freaking hoot.
